Not all cancers cause pain, but when they do, patients need access to high quality pain management.  The goal of pain management is to achieve the best possible pain relief without toxicity and with minimal side effects. Good pain management takes a flexible approach and encompasses a wide range of options.  Many people do not realize that just as there are specialists for the heart disease or cancer, there are physicians and other practitioners who are experts in pain.
