Information for Health Care Professionals

Our partnership with health professionals in the community is key to our success at UCLA Health System. It is our goal to assist you with referring a patient to UCLA and getting access to our continuing medical education program.

Registered nurses and referral coordinators are available to assist referring physicians and case managers access services at UCLA Health System through the toll-free UCLA Physician Referral Service phone line (1-800-UCLA-MD1). Or, send an email to access@mednet.ucla.edu and one of our referral nurses will respond.

Referrals may also be made directly to the Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology, a part of the Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center. Clinical care is provided primarily by the Mattel Children's Hospital at UCLA. Additional services may also be provided by other UCLA facilities.

Pediatric oncologists at UCLA provide outpatient diagnostic, therapeutic, and consultative care to pediatric patients with hematologic or oncologic diseases. The division also offers a comprehensive, multidisciplinary program for the treatment of these disorders including, if indicated, allogeneic and autologous bone marrow transplantation.

Making a Referral

The Mattel Children's Hospital at UCLA's mission is to provide state-of-the-art treatment for children in a compassionate atmosphere, as well as conduct research that improves the understanding and treatment of pediatric diseases and to train the next generation of leaders in pediatrics.

The Department of Pediatrics can assist referring physicians and hospitals in arranging emergency transport to the medical center for their patients. The General Pediatrics faculty are available to case-manage any referral by a physician in private practice that results in an inpatient stay. The designated faculty member coordinates consultations and provides direct feedback and progress reports to the referring physician.

Evaluation of a patient may be arranged directly with the office listed. For pediatric consultations on weekends or after 5:00 p.m. on weekdays, the UCLA page operator at (310) 825-6301 will contact the subspecialty physician on call.
