About the Clinical Trials Search Tool

UCLA's Dr. Joyce SheldonThe Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center offers clinical trials not only in Los Angeles but across the United States. All open clinical trials available to UCLA patients can be viewed via the Open Clinical Trials search tool on this website.

The search tool is driven by a Velos database. Information is provided by study teams via new study submission forms, with entry into Velos administered by the Office of Regulatory Compliance (ORC). Some of the information presented for our clinical trials has also been obtained from NCI's PDQ Cancer Clinical Trial Registry. In addition, the ORC updates Velos to include lay summaries when the lay summary is not provided by PDQ. However, it does not update the statuses of the studies or enter in patient information.

Please note that our clinical trials search tool is intended for use as a guide only. Clinical trials information is generally updated in batches on a monthly basis, and there is the potential that a trial listed as open on this site may not be open any longer. Similarly, there may be trials available in addition to those listed here.

We recommend contacting the Clinical Trials hotline at (888) 798-0719 to confirm clinical trial availability and/or to get further information about specific trials.

Submitting a New Clinical Trial

It is mandatory that all new applicable clinical trials be registered with clinicaltrials.gov and the National Cancer Institute's Clinical Trials Reporting Program (CTRP). Any proposed new study must be submitted to the ORC for review by the Internal Scientific Peer Review Committe (ISPRC) before it can be considered for registration with CTRP.

For information on the procedure to submit a new trial, contact Mark Glover, Admin Specialist, at (310) 794-8742.

Updating/Closing an Existing Clinical Trial

Study teams are responsible for updating information in Velos for their clinical trials. Team members access the Velos database directly, and are required to periodically review all their trials to ensure information is current and accurate.

For general information on Velos eResearch implementation, visit our resource page for Velos user manuals and newsletters.
