Scott Thompson brings his own compelling story of cancer survivorship and a profound commitment to his work as Executive Director of the Jonsson Cancer Center Foundation. Scott joined the Foundation in 2013 after a highly successful fundraising career at Cornell University and, most recently, the University of Arizona. Scott led fundraising efforts for the University of Arizona Cancer Center for six years before being named Senior Director of Regional Development for the University of Arizona Foundation. He also served as Secretary of the National Association of Cancer Center Development Officers (NACCDO) Board of Directors.
Scott earned his undergraduate degree at the University of Iowa where he also played basketball, earning All-Big Ten honors and All-Academic Big Ten honors. Later he served as head men's basketball coach at Wichita State University, Rice University and Cornell University, before transitioning to development.
The Jonsson Cancer Center Foundation (JCCF) is a fully licensed 501(c)(3) public benefit corporation that raises and distributes funds to support leading-edge cancer research at UCLA’s Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center. The JCCF board of directors is comprised of respected business and community leaders who are dedicated to raising money for the Jonsson Cancer Center through major and planned gifts, annual and tribute gifts, special events and community activities.
