Dr. Erina Vlashi’s laboratory has made the unique discovery that cancer stem cells (CSCs) have low proteasome activity. They can exploit this feature to identify, track and target CSCs, and to explore important questions about CSCs, such as their radiobiology, metabolic characteristics and the factors involved in the ability of non-CSCs to reprogram into CSCs.
