Personalized Medicine and Cancer Treatments

Since the mapping of the human genome, the field of personalized medicine has grown exponentially, revealing exciting potential for innovation and personalization in myriad aspects of healthcare from new ways to predict disease to novel targeted treatments and therapies. Dr. Brunicardi discusses the realized and potential benefits of personalized cancer care for both patients and practitioners and reviews recent advances and accomplishments in cancer detection and treatment as well as emerging areas of research interest and targeted therapies.

F. Charles Brunicardi, M.D. is the Chief of Santa Monica General Surgery Group & Vice Chair of Surgical Services at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. His clinical expertise includes gastrointestinal surgery and surgery of neuroendocrine tumors, and his research focuses on translational genomic medicine and surgery. He is the recipient of numerous prestigious teaching awards and has served as Editor-In-Chief of Schwartz's Principles of Surgery since 2002. A committed surgeon and scholar, Dr. Brunicardi is dedicated to the advancement of surgical education, innovative research and providing excellent clinical care.

UCLA parking is $11 and is wheelchair accessible. Attendees can park in the medical plaza, or take advantage of the valet parking at the front of Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center.
