Dr. Gustavo Miranda-Carboni's reasearch interests are on modeling human breast cancer using mouse models of the Wnt/beta-catenin signaling pathway. His translation model is for a subset of human breast cancers known as Triple-Negative which afflicts African-American women three times higher than other ethnic groups. This type of breast cancer is highly aggressive, lacks any known therapeutics and afflicts pre-menopausal women at ~33 percent of the time upon diagnosis.
