If you have had cancer or have a blood relative who has had cancer, you may be interested in the UCLA Family Cancer Registry and Genetic Evaluation Program.
The program offers individualized education and counseling programs on genes, heredity and cancer. You can also be notified about special research studies for which you or your family members may be eligible.
In addition, the registry serves as a repository of information about people who have had cancer or have a family history of cancer. This information can include:
- Complete pedigree data, or the tracing of certain cancers through a family tree.
- Survey data on lifestyles, health behaviors and other characteristics.
- Biological specimens such as tissue or blood samples.
- Results of genetic susceptibility testing.
For more information, please visit the program's website at http://www.registry.mednet.ucla.edu.
