Early ovarian cancer may not cause any symptoms. However, almost all patients with advanced ovarian cancer report symptoms.
Symptoms of ovarian cancer may include:
- Pain or swelling in the abdomen
- Pain in the pelvis
- Gastrointestinal problems, such as gas, bloating or constipation
- Vaginal bleeding after menopause
These symptoms are more commonly caused by other, less severe conditions and not by ovarian cancer. A woman who experiences these symptoms should consult a physician for evaluation. This evaluation should include a pelvic exam by an experienced gynecologist and, if indicated, an ultrasound of the ovaries.
