UCLA Jonsson Cancer Center Foundation Donor Wall
The Jonsson Cancer Center Foundation Donor Wall, located on the UCLA campus, honors donors whose contributions and support continue to advance our mission to end cancer through research

The UCLA Health Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center Foundation is a public benefit corporation that exists for the express purpose of raising and distributing funds to support leading-edge cancer research at the UCLA Health Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center.

History & Mission

The UCLA Health Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center Foundation was founded in 1945 by a group of volunteers dedicated to cancer research at UCLA. Their idea, using funds raised from private sources to invest in the work of promising young cancer researchers, resulted in the Seed Grant Program, which has helped the UCLA Health Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center break new ground in the quest to defeat cancer.

Although seed grants remain an important part of the Foundation's mission, we also support numerous high-priority, multi-disciplinary cancer research efforts focused on rapidly translating discoveries made in the laboratory into improved screening, treatment and prevention.

As the single most important vehicle for raising private funds for cancer research at UCLA, the Foundation:

  • Provides funds to help UCLA Health Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center researchers pursue promising new projects and enhance established programs in areas ranging from cancer survivorship and clinical research to the development of targeted therapies
  • Has a Board of Directors comprised of respected business and community leaders who are dedicated to raising money through major and planned gifts, annual and tribute gifts, and special events and community activities
  • Is a fully licensed 501(c)(3) public benefit corporation that exists for the express purpose of raising and distributing funds to support leading-edge cancer research at the UCLA Health Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center

The UCLA Health Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center Foundation spends 90 percent of total donations directly on cancer research and cancer-related programs. The remaining 10 percent goes toward administrative and fundraising expenses. Donors to JCCF can feel confident their gifts benefit the research that has consistently made the UCLA Health Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center a leader in its field.

Using Gifts Wisely

UCLA Health Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center directors believe the key to world-class achievement is to focus on three strategic priorities: recruit and retain the best faculty; provide them with the tools to succeed; and support them by funding novel ideas that advance the understanding and treatment of cancer.

We are committed to keeping fundraising and administrative expenses low. The UCLA Health Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center Foundation directs 90 percent of total donations to cancer research and cancer-related programs. The remaining 10 percent goes toward administrative and fundraising expenses.

We appreciate that our donors have chosen to make an important investment in us. We use cost-effective tools, such as e-mail and social media, to reach our supporters. We limit direct mail solicitations and print materials so a greater portion of each gift dollar can fund leading-edge cancer research.
