Scientific Interest(s):
Dr. Carolyn Crandall's research focuses on breast cancer risk (e.g., her mammographic density publications) and breast cancer survivorship issues, especially the intersection between breast cancer and menopause (e.g., her publications regarding hot flashes in breast cancer survivors and bone mineral density in breast cancer survivors).
She intends to continue two areas of investigation: first, the influence of breast cancer diagnosis and its therapy on menopause and osteoporosis in breast cancer survivors and secondly, strategies to target women at risk for breast cancer by continuing to study hormonal and genetic determinants of mammographic density. Her overall goals for these two lines of research are to enhance aspects of the quality of life of breast cancer survivors, and to help identify targets for intervention for high-risk women.
