Scientific Interest(s):

Dr. Shehnaz Hussain’s research is focused on the molecular epidemiology of cancer, particularly those cancers with infectious etiologies. The main objective of her research is to identify molecular markers, particularly those related to immune function, which alone or together with infections, environmental exposures or lifestyle factors, influence one’s risk of developing cancer. Current projects include 1) cytokine gene polymorphisms and cervical and vulvar cancer, 2) genetic epidemiology of familial breast cancer, and 3) genetic susceptibility and biomarkers in non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.
