Dr. Dan Dumesic is Division Chief of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (REI) in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology (OB/GYN) at UCLA. His clinical interest is polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), the most common endocrine disorder of reproductive-aged women, characterized by menstrual irregularity, anovulatory infertility, androgen excess and insulin resistance. His clinical medical and basic science studies examine the molecular and cellular basis for the metabolic and reproductive abnormalities of this syndrome. He has developed multidisciplinary studies of PCOS through a consortium of esteemed scientists, including translational links to the UCLA Clinical and Translational Science Institute. His goal is to integrate these research studies into a new clinical concept of women’s reproductive healthcare, targeting both fertility and prevention of chronic diseases.
