Cindy Pawlcyn is currently the owner of two Napa Valley Restaurants — Mustards Grill and Cindy's Backstreet Kitchen. She was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota and moved to the Napa Valley over twenty-five years ago. Mustards Grill opened in 1983 and will be celebrating its 23rd anniversary this year. Since the opening of Mustards, Pawlcyn has been involved in the creation of over a dozen new restaurants including Fog City Diner, Bix, Roti, the Buckeye Roadhouse and Betelnut. Her newest restaurant — Cindy's Backstreet Kitchen — features an eclectic menu and in Pawlcyn's words, "the foods we make at home and most like to cook."
Pawlcyn, an inductee of Who's Who of Cooking in America, has been twice nominated for the James Beard Foundation Award for Best Chef in California and was a recipient of the Robert Mondavi Award for Culinary Excellence. Her cookbook, "Mustards Grill Cookbook," won a James Beard Award and was also nominated for an IACP award. Her third cookbook, "Big Small Plates," will be released this fall.
