An initial visit with the VITA survivorship team consists of a one-time consultation that lasts approximately one to two hours. Patients meet with a psychologist, nurse practitioner and medical oncologist, all of whom specialize in cancer survivorship. These visits are billed to insurance as a regular visit with a physician.
To schedule an appointment, a patient must be able provide access to the medical records from his or her cancer treatments. These records are a vital part of the survivorship consultation visit and help to ensure that the VITA program can provide the best evaluation and recommendations for follow-up care.
