Dr. Suvajit Sen’s research interests include the investigation of small diffusible molecule mediated signaling events in breast cancer cells. Specifically, he explores the actions of hydrogen peroxide, superoxide, nitric oxide and the recently discovered gasotransmitter hydrogen sulfide in the progression of breast cancer. His ultimate goal is to develop therapeutics targeting the signaling mechanism/s initiated by endogenous small diffusible molecules in breast cancer cells. His research also focuses on the immune-modulatory role of these small molecules in the breast cancer stroma especially with regards to the inter-conversion of M1 type to M2 type macrophages.
