Each lecture features a leading professional who provides up-to-date information, practical advice and answers to cancer-related questions.

Nutrition and Cancer: An Integrative Approach to Shape one's Internal Landscape and Optimize Health
The authors of the book, Five to Thrive: Your Cutting Edge Cancer Prevention Plan, discuss nutrition and cancer and integrative approaches to health that can transform one's internal landscape away from cancer and toward health. Based upon the principles of epigenetics, this presentation explores the ways in which lifestyle, nutrition and targeted dietary supplements alter one's state of inflammation, insulin resistance, stress, toxicity and immunity A survey of how to utilize specific dietary interventions, dietary supplements, and lifestyle behaviors to modify these bodily influences are discussed with an emphasis on food first. This presentation expresses these understandings and strategies from both doctor and patient perspectives. Mary Hardy, MD, Medical Director, Simms/Mann – UCLA Center for Integrative Oncology, serves as discussant and is part of the Q & A.
Lise Alschuler, N.D., FABNO, is a naturopathic doctor, with a board certification in naturopathic oncology and has been practicing naturopathic medicine since 1994. Dr. Alschuler is past President of the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians. She is an independent consultant in the integrative healthcare industry and Vice President of Quality and Education at Emerson Ecologics, a provider of professional-grade nutritional supplements to the integrative healthcare community in the U.S. She is a breast cancer survivor.
Karolyn Gazella is the publisher of Wellness Times. She is also the publisher of Natural Medicine Journal, a peer-reviewed e-journal for healthcare professionals and open access website. Karolyn has been publishing wellness information for nearly 20 years and is the author or coauthor of several books. She is an ovarian cancer survivor.
