JCCC and UCLA IIIT Seminar Featuring Dr. JoAnne Flynn
Variability is the New Normal in Tuberculosis
12:00 PM - 1:00 PM
Los Angeles, California 90095
JoAnne Flynn, Ph.D.
Professor, Department of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics
University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine
Dr. Flynn's research is focused on the interaction of pathogens with the host, with special emphasis on the immune mechanisms that protect against or exacerbate disease. Her lab is currently investigating the immune responses required for protection against tuberculosis, and the effect of these immune responses on both the host and the bacterium, as well as specifically cytokine production, macrophage activation, and T cell subsets (CD4+ and CD8+ T cells) that are important in the disease.
